Student, Design Engineering - FALL TERM (Sept - Dec 2024)
Key Job Elements and Responsibilities:
- Mechanical design engineering of seating, fire extinguishing, hull attachments and stowage systems to meet customer requirements and specifications
- Create solid models, layouts and associative assembly and detail drawings from sketches, notes or direction from Sr. Engineers or Project Engineers to industry, company and military standards
- Design mobile defense subsystems with minimal supervision utilizing CAD software integrated to the Teamcenter database
- Perform design calculations and trade-off studies as required
- Incorporate engineering change requests into existing Technical Data Package
- Maintain Technical Data Packages (TDP), that support Design Reviews
- Support prototype builds:
- Create test plan, support tests and write test reports to validate designs, mitigate risks and/or troubleshoot problems
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in a University Degree or College Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline
- High analytical skills to solve problems at component, subsystem and system/vehicle level
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
- Meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with Teamcenter Active Workspace or similar PLM software
- Experience in a manufacturing environment and/or hands on practical experience
- Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Knowledge of Configuration Management principles
