Description:

We at Birkbeck, University of London, are excited to announce a new opening for a Student Immigration Compliance & Advice Officer. We’re looking for an administrator with excellent IT and organisational skills, who is eager to develop new skills and support our aim to grow our international student numbers.

As our Student Immigration Compliance and Advice Officer, you will:

  • Support the activities of the International Student Administration team (ISA)
  • Maintain the University’s Student Visa sponsor licence
  • Assist with ongoing international student support tasks, including providing basic immigration advice
  • Work closely with various teams across the University, including academic departments, Finance and external relations
  • Be responsible for checking identity documentation, cross-checking data, running reports and updating internal records
  • Manage high volumes of work and multiple priorities independently
  • Contribute to the delivery of training sessions for colleagues across the University.

We’re looking for a Student Immigration Compliance and Advice Officer who has:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of administrative systems
  • Knowledge of UKVI compliance and immigration processes and policy
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office, Word, Excel and database packages
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills.

You will be part of a team that is focused on implementing frequently changing Government policies and ensuring the University maintains compliance, whilst also maximising recruitment from non-UK markets. ISA is a small and supportive team where clear and regular communication with all members is a must.
Those with a proactive approach to problem solving and a particular interest in all areas of international education are encouraged to apply. If you have experience or interest in roles such as Immigration Officer, Student Services Officer, Compliance Officer, Student Advisor or Immigration Advisor, this role could be a perfect fit for you.
