Established in 2023, the ByteDance Doubao (Seed) Team is dedicated to building industry-leading AI foundation models. We aim to make world-leading research and foster both technological and social progress.

In the Chinese market, Doubao models power over 50 ByteDance apps and business lines, including Doubao, Coze, and Dreamina, and was launched to external enterprise clients through Volcano Engine. Team Introduction
The AML Machine Learning System team combines system engineering and machine learning to develop and operate massively distributed machine learning training, inference systems and services around the world. You’ll have the opportunity to build and enrich your expertise in coding, performance analysis and large system management, and get heavily involved in the process of hardware/capacity decision-making.
We are looking for talented individuals to join us for a Student Researcher opportunity in 2025. The Student Researcher position provides unique opportunities that go beyond the constraints of our standard internship program, allowing for flexibility in duration, time commitment, and location of work.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the research and development of machine learning training frameworks for AML, serving various products across the company.
  • Participate in the abstraction, design, optimization, and implementation of underlying components of machine learning training frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the company’s algorithm department to jointly optimize algorithms and systems for key projects.
  • Currently pursuing a PhD degree in computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python languages in the Linux environment.
  • Experience with at least one machine learning framework (TensorFlow/PyTorch/MxNet or other self-developed frameworks).
  • Background knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas: GPU programming, compilers, high-performance networks, distributed storage, cluster scheduling.
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
