Description:
The Student Services Generalist is the primary interface with students seeking entry into the College. The Generalist will be responsible to facilitate the Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG), and Financial Aid processes.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree required.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred Experience:
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, the general public, faculty, and other staff members.
- Must be a “quick study” in order to quickly grasp knowledge of policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student service that a prospective or current student may utilize.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordinating the administration of the Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG), including the preparation and review of reports.
- Assists students to complete the admission process by resolve unusual issues, and basic financial aid assistance.
- Verifies, evaluates and interprets documents submitted by students for financial aid programs; initiates follow up with applicants for clarification or additional documentation.
- Assists with campus previews, new student orientations, parent orientations, financial literacy, FAFSA workshops, satisfactory academic progress, and other programs as assigned and provides on-going information to students, potential students, and parents regarding policies, programs, and procedures.
- Composes correspondences to students in relations to the Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG) and others concerning requests for information or processing.
- May train and direct student workers or temporary employees as it relates to the Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG).
- Recommends improvements in department procedures. Collaborates with other staff/administrators/faculty to identify needed improvements in procedures and communication.
- Maintains records of students served and services provided. Maintains essential records and files.
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
