Description:

Our welcoming Hamilton Campus in Eureka is seeking to appoint an experienced Student Support Assistant (Teacher Aide) on a part-time, fixed-term basis (15 hours per week) until December 2024.
- Providing one-on-one support to a student (Year 11) with high learning needs, as well as one-one-one and small group support to students across Year 9-13.
While induction will be provided, the following experience and skills are essential:
- Recent experience working with young people, particularly those at a similar age range.
- Proven experience and competency supporting young people with learning challenges.
- Experience applying effective strategies and opportunities for learning.
- Experience differentiating/scaffolding learning tasks to enable success.
- An understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and of different learning methods.
- A high level of digital competency, including evidence of a good working knowledge of Zoom, OneDrive, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to cater for a student’s varying needs, including implementation of strategies to support development of communication, life skills and learning.
- Excellent relationship building, organisational and communication skills.
- Patience, resilience, adaptability and empathy.
While not essential, experience with NCEA and the alternative pathways framework is desirable as is previous use of Edge and Canvas
