Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Student Support Specialist plays an essential role at Rowe Elementary, operated by Northwestern Settlement. This position will support teachers and scholars with social, behavioral, and academic needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university; Paraprofessional license preferred
- Must have Positive, Relationship - Focused Attitude; high energy level
- Strong Communication Skills
- A Caring and Engaging Personality
- The ability to implement interventions to support scholars
- Willingness to be trained in the areas necessary to support scholars
- Prior Experience working with school-aged youth
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
- Positive business image through dress, attitude and manners
- Enthusiasm, patience, and self-control

Responsibilities:
- Supporting Rowe Scholars with social, behavioral, and academic needs. Supports will include working with students individually, in small groups, and within the classroom.
- Working in collaboration with teachers and other building staff to plan and implement supports for the identified scholars.
- Working closely with Rowe Administration to create, implement, and follow through with supports for identified scholars.
- Supporting school-wide implementation of Positive Behavior Supports, including Check In-Check-out, Positive Behavior Support Plans, Safety Plans, etc…
- Attending Parent Meetings with school personnel as scheduled.
- Effectively communicate with scholars, staff, and parents.
- Other functions determined by the Assistant Principal or Principal
