Student Analyst at Nasdaq Market Statistics
Nasdaq’s Economic & Statistical Research (ESR) is looking for a Student Analyst to join the Market Statistics -team. The ESR team provides analytical support for all Nasdaq business units within the Nordic & Baltic region. This is achieved by delivering Business Intelligence dashboards self-service analysis, reporting of recurring statistics and customized ad-hoc analyses. Our deliveries support decision making, with the aim of improving trading, capital formation and market structure.
The team consists of about a dozen employees that work across three different areas: Technology, Research and Market Statistics. Our primary stakeholders are within Capital Market Listings, Equities, Derivatives, Fixed Income and Commodities, as well as senior management and corporate functions.
You will be managing and implementing improvements to our reports, reporting landscape, and provide quantitative analysis. You will use and manage our business intelligence and reporting solutions – primarily SAP BusinessObjects and Microsoft Power BI – to prepare, visualize and analyze data. You might be involved in data extraction and data quality efforts where you will put your SQL programming skills to use.
This is a part-time position in Helsinki, Finland or Stockholm, Sweden. The ideal candidate can work at a minimum 2 days a week on the side of their studies and full time during the summer.
We expect you to have
- Relevant studies within finance or engineering
- Experience working with reporting or business intelligence
- Experience working with SQL
- Attention to detail and the skills required working with very large data sets
- The ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team
- An interest in finance
It will be great if you have
- Familiarity with capital markets and financial products
- Experience of working with PostgreSQL or Redshift in AWS
- Proficiency in programming or scripting languages beyond SQL
- Experience with columnar storage databases
- Knowledge of econometric and/or statistical methods
