Description:

The Houston Texans are in a season of growth and are seeking an individual for the position of Summer Associate (Legal).

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent undergraduate and law school academic credentials.
  • Strong writing and communication skills and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain and ensure strict confidentiality.
  • Extreme attention to details and high degree of professionalism and personal accountability.
  • Skilled in comprehending and analyzing procedural problems. Make sound recommendations and conclusions.
  • Strong working knowledge of electronic signature software (e.g., DocuSign)
  • Ability and internal drive to demonstrate a winning attitude and a strong work ethic in the performance of all job responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software applications.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university required.
  • Currently enrolled as a first- or second-year full-time law student in the State of Texas.
  • Prior work experience in a corporate environment preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the Club’s efforts to utilize document generation software to automate the contract creation process for Club’s standard contracts (e.g., suite lease agreements, sponsorship agreements, contest rules, independent contractor agreements, vendor agreements, etc.).
  • Support Club’s commercial and marketing teams by efficiently drafting and revising Club’s standard contracts under the direction of the Associate Counsel.
  • Obtain and manage electronic signatures on contracts (i.e., initiate, modify, and revoke) and monitor the status of signatures on outstanding contracts.
  • Primary responsibility for filing all of the organization’s signed contracts in the Club’s contract database.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Club’s contract database (e.g., moving expired contracts to inactive status).
  • Communicate the Club’s contracting policies internally and train users on contracting systems.
  • Assist with tracking and resolving intellectual property
  • Perform various other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the EVP, Business Affairs and General Counsel and Associate General Counsel.
    Subject to reasonable accommodations, position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and not in a telecommuting manner.
