Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Financial Officer, Support Services, the Finance Clerk supports the Financial Specialists with supporting select First Nations across Canada through remote accounting and on-going training.

Qualifications

  • Must be aged 15 – 30 years to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs program;
  • Must be a permanent resident of Canada, a Canadian Citizens or legally permitted and protected under the Immigration and Refugee protection during the period of employment;
  • Understanding of public affairs in an area of Events, Communications or Government Relations;
  • Willingness to follow industry trends and current methods;
  • Experience working with Indigenous Governments, organizations and communities considered a strong asset;
  • Strong communicator with a strong command of written and spoken English; French language skills considered an asset;
  • Well-organized, with the ability to work within deadlines; analytical mind with attention to detail;
  • Effective working skills in Microsoft Suite.
  • Enrolled or completed Post-Secondary Education in Business, Finance, accounting or Administrative Studies;
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • An understanding, awareness and appreciation of Indigenous culture and history

Responsibilities:

Assist Financial Specialist in accounting procedures, such as Bank Reconciliations, Accounts Payable, Revenue Recognition, Journal Entries with First Nation client;

  • Provide monthly data analysis and reporting on First Nation clients, specific to remote accounting, sustainable training or supplemental services;
  • Assist Financial Specialists in reporting and review of compliance reporting, policy & procedures reviews, project management reports and assignments;
  • Provide support and development on Sustainable training or Supplemental Services training opportunities;
  • Provide administrative support and technical assistance to Financial Specialists to support First Nation clients.
  • Assist and support relationship with Financial Specialists to provide the knowledge transfer and capacity building to First Nation clients.
