How You Will Make an Impact:
- Prioritize the safety of every pool visitor, creating a welcoming environment.
- Promptly address issues and maintain cleanliness to prevent accidents and illnesses, ensuring worry-free experiences.
- Swift first aid response and detailed incident reports promote security and prevent future incidents, fostering member and program participant trust.
- Embody YMCA’s values, creating an inclusive atmosphere and enriching experiences for all.
- Inspire others to embrace YMCA’s values, advocating for its impact and culture in all interactions.
- Excel in duties, supporting YMCA’s mission and community with passion and commitment.
What You Bring to Make an Impact:
- Minimum age requirement: 16 years old.
- Lifeguard certification from YMCA or Red Cross required, including CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen administration. Don’t worry if you don’t have it – we offer certification services for free for future new employees.
- Excellent swimming skills to perform rescue techniques and maintain endurance.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Growth mindset, quickly learn from failure, and value feedback to continuously improve.
- Team player mentality with a positive, service-oriented attitude and the ability to work well with others.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and actively listening for understanding to effectively convey information.
- Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, leveraging people’s differences as strengths and promoting a welcoming environment for all.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, talk and occasionally lift and/or move items including equipment and children. Must be able to remain alert, sit or stand for extended periods of time, hear noises and distinguish distress signals, scan all areas of the pool with clear vision, perform all physical tasks related to instructing and observing participants in proper stroke techniques, communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
