Description:

Circuit Stream is a leader in future technology skills training and learning content. We offer world-class educational services for teen and adult learners with a focus on the skills needed to leverage immersive and emerging technology.
The Summer Program Coordinator for Circuit Stream will play an important role in supporting students and parents during the pre-university summer camps on-campus at UBC in Vancouver, B.C. This is a temporary full-time role for 7 weeks from June 24 to August 9, 2024, with some self-directed training prior to the start date. In this role, you will work closely with Circuit Stream’s Student Experience Coordinator and Instructors to engage with students, answer parent questions, track attendance and assignment progress, supervise Camp Facilitators, and more.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-2 years’ experience coordinating summer camp programming and/or youth after-school programs (ideally in a STEM environment)
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field, including but not limited to, education, communication, business, computer science.
  • Comfort with learning and using educational systems (e.g. Learning Management System D2L, Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, Discord, Hubspot, Slack)
  • Excellent professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure with excellent time management
  • Ability to work collaboratively in virtual and in-person teams through various communication channels (Slack, Email, Discord, phone, in-person, etc.)
  • Personally accountable, ability to work independently and with limited direct supervision.
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR required
  • Current and clear police information check with vulnerable sector required
  • Available for full-time hours (8:00am to 4:30pm), Monday to Friday from June 24 to August 9, 2024 on-site at the UBC Campus

Responsibilities:

The Summer Program Coordinator duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Help to set-up and run 9 tech summer camp cohorts in July and August for 13-18 year olds at the UBC campus in Vancouver.
  • Work with our program partner UBC Extended Learning to support operation of on-site camps.
  • Support instructors to ensure access to all course material in the LMS and student access for on-site learners, before, during and after the program.
  • Oversee 3 Camp Facilitators who will be responsible for student activities and check-in/check-out
  • Monitor attendance sheets from facilitators, and review assignment progress in D2L and flag any issues to the Student Experience Coordinator, in order to make a plan for remedying any issues.
  • Represent Circuit Stream in a professional capacity with various groups (UBC staff and faculty, parents, students, guest speakers, etc.)
  • Provide daily and weekly updates to the Student Experience Coordinator around student progress and satisfaction.
  • Engage with parents by providing appropriate and professional feedback.
  • Communicate with students in the Circuit Stream Discord community.
  • Administrative tasks including completing camp reports, following up on absent campers, following up missed assignments, etc.
  • Carrying out reasonable duty requests from members of the Management Team.
