SUMMER STUDENTS - ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
The Town is currently looking for Summer Students to work in the Operations & Environmental Services Department. Summer Students are responsible for performing grounds maintenance tasks including litter pick up, mowing grass, trimming, annual planting of flowers, trees and shrubs and/or assist in general roads maintenance, construction activities and special event set-ups.
Subject to work group assignments, these positions may be required to operate a range of vehicles and maintenance equipment such as tractors, riding mowers, pickup trucks, string trimmers, roto tillers, blowers, and a variety of hand tools.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Previous work experience performing grounds maintenance tasks including operating equipment, litter pick up, mowing grass, trimming, planting of flowers, trees and shrubs, construction activities and special event set-ups is considered an asset;
- Excellent customer service and good interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to deal with the public courteously and efficiently;
- Strong communication skills, able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions;
- Candidates must be physically able to perform all duties including heavy lifting, prolonged standing and walking on uneven surfaces;
- Candidates are expected to work outdoors in all weather and environmental conditions;
- Students hired to drive Town vehicles will be required to hold a valid “G” drivers license and have a clear driver’s abstract;
- A criminal record search will be required of the successful candidate.

- Registrar’s letter confirming enrollment and academic eligibility for the next semester;
- Letter confirming your anticipated graduation date;
- Letter indicating that you have more credits left to complete in your current degree;
- Letter confirming your application to a program next term/semester at a post-secondary education establishment
