Description:

DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Seven (7) years of progressive experience in a full-cycle accounting and reporting or cost accounting in the mining industry with site based rotational shift exposure;
  • Bachelor of Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce or Finance;
  • Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation;
  • Familiarity with cost control, accounts payable, planning/scheduling, operational reporting, capital projects, and document control using an enterprise resource program with preference for those familiar with SAP;
  • Advanced Excel skills; inclusive of, but not limited to, advanced formulations, data analysis, pivot tables, macros, multi format import/export;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the supply chain and logistic functions in remote locations; and
  • Good communication skills, high attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Support in the planning, organizing, directing, controlling, evaluating and reporting the financial function of the mine;
  • Assist in the preparation of cost centers financial statements, summaries, and other cost-benefit analyses and financial management reports;
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Financial group, Permitting and Environmental, Exploration, and other Site teams as required;
  • Develop and maintain key external relationships with consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders;
  • Assist in analyzing and forecasting costs, and develop, prepare, collect, and analyze schedule and cost data on a weekly and monthly basis to assist site management and contribute to preparation of weekly and monthly reports;
  • Review contractor, vendor, and consultant invoices for capital projects;
  • Assisting with vendor management by ensuring that Accounts Payable function delivers quality services to the vendors;
  • Review of workpapers completed by other members of the Site Finance team;
  • Prepare the month end reconciliations for review by the Site Controller; and
  • Participate in Ad hoc projects and tasks as they arise.
