JOB DESCRIPTION
The Superintendent – Health and Safety is responsible for providing direction and guidance to direct reports, support the Health, Safety and Training manager and liaise and foster a close relationship with the Superintendent - Training at the Macraes Operation in order to meet their legislative and business requirements while continuously improving.
This position will will assist in driving a positive safety culture by working closely with leaders and workforce to coach and mentor for safe behaviours, promote health and wellbeing of our workers and ensure workers are provided with the necessary Health and Safety training requirements to fulfill their jobs while providing an advisory role to maintain legislative compliance. This position will be expected to lead by example and to promote best practice at all times with regards to H&S at work.
Key responsibilities:
- Development of strategic objectives and health and safety awareness programs to be carried out each year delivering consistent and collaborative messages
- Lead, advise, coordinate and mentor the departmental Safety Advisors to proactively deliver the site health and safety strategic objectives
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, analyse incident reports, and implement corrective measures as necessary in collaboration with Site Nurses and/or Occupational Hygienist and/or Emergency Response coordinator and/or Training Superintendent and/or System Specialist
- Project planning and delivery
- Incident investigation facilitation
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Coordination Level 7
- Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
Experience:
- Extensive experience in (a minimum of 8 years) in leading health and safety activities in a processing and or mining environment.
- Proven experience managing people and teams
- Developing and working within formal health and safety management systems.
