THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Superintendent - Logistics and Mechanical Support to be responsible for leading our teams accountable for the planning and execution of maintenance support services to site fixed plant operational teams and light vehicles.
Rio Tinto Weipa is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years. Responsibilities:
WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS
This role is a great opportunity to demonstrate your leadership and stakeholder engagement skillset to ensure our mechanical and logistics support services are executed safely, on time, on budget and to a quality. Working a 40hr week over 9 Day fortnight and reporting to the Manager - Asset and Operational Services, you will be:
- Responsible for our site main component rebuild / fabrication workshop with focus on continuing to grow and uplift capability
- Responsible for light / medium vehicle maintenance across site
- Accountable for the cranes and rigging team that provide a centralised service across Weipa Operations
- All functions associated with inbound logistics including the operation of three warehouses
WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THIS ROLE
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience leading maintenance teams and workshops
- Demonstrated experience in logistics or materials management
- Ability to engage stakeholders across multiple operating departments
- Working knowledge of scheduling practices and MS Office software tools
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Technical qualification (engineering or trade qualified)
- Experience working in mining or heavy industrial maintenance environment
- Experience managing complex execution schedules to deliver outcomes
- Working knowledge of business improvement tools (such as 6 Sigma and process improvement methodologies)
