The post holder will work with a multidisciplinary team, and be responsible for managing the day-to-day MRI service county-wide, spanning over 2 acute sites. The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of MRI including an in-depth knowledge of a range of MRI examinations, whilst also providing day to day leadership and motivation to the team.
The post holder will work with the senior management team to develop an environment and culture that improves quality, health, safety and security. Working in partnership with the clinical leads to review and develop changes surrounding patient experience.

Responsibilities:

To assist in the provision of an effective and efficient MRI service.
To act as a role model and promote effective team-working to provide a high quality diagnostic service.
To be responsible for maintaining high standards in the training and education of staff within the MRI service.
To strive for continual improvement in the quality of the MRI service, working alongside the management and Consultant teams.
To maintain a safe working environment for both staff and patients.
To develop and improve clinical expertise both personally and for the team via continuous professional development
Additional work pattern: out of hours and weekends
The Radiology Directorate at GHNHSFT manages services across 10 sites in Gloucestershire including 2 large District General Hospitals. We are the second largest directorate in the South West of England offering a broad range of sub-specialty work including adult and paediatric radiography including trauma and orthopaedic examinations, mobile imaging, general radiography, cardiac and interventional procedures, digital fluoroscopy, CT scanning, MRI and Ultrasound. This is an especially exciting time to join us as the department at Cheltenham General Hospital has undergone a major refurbishment programme with all modalities benefiting from £6.5m equipment replacement investment.

Monitor key indicators of performance so that corrective action is taken promptly as and when needed.
Pursue the objectives of the diagnostic radiology service, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of services within available resources
Work in conjunction with the Professional Lead Radiographer, General Manager and Modality Lead Radiographers to plan and implement an acceptable and appropriate Radiology service across the county.
Propose, develop and responsible for implementation of departmental policies & protocols
Input into ongoing analysis and development of the service
Take part in the provision of a 24-hours service
Able to conduct a range of examinations within the clinical speciality upon a range of patient types, both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of multidisciplinary team(s), in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal standards and requirements. Using clinical information available ensure that the appropriate radiology technique is performed in accordance with best practice and that the images are diagnostic.
Suggest referrals to other clinical teams according to departmental protocols and best practice in order to ensure appropriate ongoing treatment.
Utilise supporting evidence to support & develop practice and protocols. Propose appropriate changes to working practice to improve patient care and service delivery.
Available as a source of advice, professional leadership and practical assistance and be able to cope with multiple demands during the day. Effective multitasking.
Provide continuous professional leadership, supervision and practical assistance to a multi-disciplinary team of reception staff, assistant technical officers, radiographer practitioners, advanced practitioners, student radiographers and trainee assistant practitioners whilst ensuring development of services
