The Esperanza Center is a comprehensive immigrant resource center that offers hope and essential services to people who are new to the United States. Immigrants from all over the world have received important resources and compassionate guidance at the Esperanza Center since 1963. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide services and referrals, ESL education, health care, and free or low-cost immigration legal services to thousands of immigrants each year.
Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Supervising Attorney who will provide day-to-day management of discrete aspects of the ILS Program including case selection, case management oversight, and assistance with grant writing and reporting, and supervising staff. The Supervising Attorney will also represent clients before local, state, and federal administrative offices such as the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS); Executive Office for Immigration Review, Baltimore Immigration Court (EOIR); and the U.S. Department of State (DOS).
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Law degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in at least one State, U.S. Territory, or a Federal District Court. Must be licensed to practice in Maryland
- Two years of immigration law practice experience required.
- Proven competency in the use of Microsoft Office in a Windows environment.

- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, analytic, and managerial skills.
- Ability to set priorities and exercise good judgment.
- Ability to work with clients from diverse cultures.
- Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede driver’s ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.

Responsibilities:
- Supervises Staff Attorneys, including regular performance check-ins.
- Assists in consultations with prospective clients.
- Handles a limited legal caseload.
- Provides legal representation of clients before the USCIS Baltimore District Office, the Asylum Office in Arlington, Virginia, and the Baltimore Immigration Court.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
