ABOUT US:

The Faculty of Law is one of the oldest professional faculties at the University of Toronto. Today, it is one of the world’s great law schools. The Faculty’s rich academic programs are complemented by its many legal clinics and public interest programs. The Faculty of Law is housed in the elegant, state-of-the-art Jackman Law Building, alongside two historic buildings, Flavelle House and Falconer Hall, on the St. George Campus in downtown Toronto.

EDUCATION:

Undergraduate degree and law degree (LL.B or J.D. Degree). LL.M or a graduate degree in a related area of study is a strong asset. Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Training in anti-racism and anti-oppression practices.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 years of experience practicing criminal law. Experience with training and/or supervising law students. Significant prior experience working with highly vulnerable communities. Experience working in social justice and/or a public interest setting, and engaging in community outreach activities. Prior supervisory and/or management experience is an asset.

SKILLS:

Demonstrated legal expertise; superior written and oral communication skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; highly effective problem-solving skills; sound reasoning and decision-making skills; effective project management skills; exceptional analytical, organizational and time management skills; and good computer proficiency (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, and email).
