POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting directly to the Senior Clinical Manager of the Emergency Department (ED), the Supervisor of Administrative Services, Emergency Clerks is an important member of the Emergency Leadership Team. This role assumes responsibility of the management of the Emergency Clerk Team, which includes Information, Registration and Admitting Clerks - a team within the larger ED Team of nurses, physicians, and other allied health professionals. This role provides leadership to a diverse group of staff who support patient care activities 24 hours/day, 7 days/week through customer service, accuracy of the patient record and administrative support.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage daily operational needs of Emergency Clerk Team in an effective and efficient manner.
- Manage budget and identify opportunities for efficiencies.
- Recruitment, hiring and new staff orientation.
- Facilitate, coach and role model ongoing staff development goals to ensure continual growth.
- Set standards for role accountability and role clarity.
- Create and maintain a database of Emergency Clerk Team performance measures.
- Set team objectives for continuous process improvement and manage change to achieve these objectives.
- Monitors individual performance, ensuring performance concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
- Oversee work and vacation schedules in accordance with hospital policy and department guidelines.
- Monitor and plan for resource capacity.
- Participate in working groups and committees as required.
- Liaise and collaborate with other areas in the organization.
- Provide oversight for patient safety and quality initiatives related to registration and post-visit data entry practices across the organization.
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures relevant to the daily operation of service.
- Monitor for trends and opportunities to improve processes.
- Support the team with day-to-day tasks as needed.
