ABOUT US

Corrections Victoria’s purpose is to deliver an effective corrections system for a safe community. Community Correctional Services (CCS), is overseen by Corrections Victoria, a division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety. CCS is responsible for the management and supervision of prisoners on parole, clients under post sentence supervision and court orders.
CCS is currently experiencing rapid growth in the number of clients. In response to this, Corrections Victoria will embed evidence based practice across all areas of our work and target responses to the areas that will allow the greatest impacts to be made. This approach will contribute to a safer community and strengthen CCS for the future.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Supervisor, Court Assessment and Prosecutions, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Court Assessment & Prosecutions Officers providing services to or appearing before the Magistrates Court, County Court, Koori Court and other stakeholders involved in the sentencing process. You will have oversight of Court Assessment & Prosecutions Service (CAPS) operations, ensuring effective resource planning workload distribution to meet service demands and timely reporting of service activities, additionally providing specialist Court advice and guidance to staff and stakeholders.
The role will also provide support to staff and facilitate team and individual based coaching to strengthen practice and support professional development, promoting a culture of continuous improvement. This full time, ongoing position

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • experience and knowledge of best practice case management frameworks, including the provision of needs assessment in a human services context
  • experience and capability in leading and developing a team responsible for operational service delivery
  • strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • excellent time management and organisation skills with the ability to balance competing priorities
  • an understanding of court processes and sentencing principles is desirable.
    A relevant qualification in social work, human services, criminal justice or criminology with experience in a related field is also desirable.
