BC Place Stadium is hiring a Supervisor, Environmental Services to join the Event Operations team.
The Supervisor, Environmental Services will provide leadership, direction and management oversight for continuous improvement of the standard Environmental Services (EVS) operating model within the facility. Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services, this position will provide staff leadership and make sound business decisions in support of the company’s mission and vision in addition to demonstrating leadership by providing an optimal environment for safety, service and value. The Supervisor, Environmental Services will also assist in managing the day to day operations of the department and ensure a consistently high level of cleanliness and aesthetics to guests, clients, and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all department activities support the mission, vision and values of BC Place;
  • Participate in the development of annual goals, objectives and the strategic planning process for EVS department;
  • Ensure that all department staff operates within the guidelines of the applicable legislation and internal policies, procedures and regulations;
  • Collaborate with the EVS Manager to maintain and approve the selection of staff, orientation, training, staff development, performance management, authorize overtime, attendance management, collective agreements, and deployment of staff resources;
  • Ensure the educational needs of staff are identified and met;
  • Implement a culture within area of responsibility by ensuring staff are diligently following the control and prevention program;
  • Provide effective leadership to department staff through coaching, guidance, and constructive communication practices;
  • Lead and facilitate the implementation of committees relevant to area of responsibility;
  • Facilitate a ‘best practice’ culture within area of responsibility with continuous improvement initiatives and program development and implementation.
  • Plan, assess, organize, direct, control and evaluate all events related matters in Environmental Services Programs and Systems;
  • Develop and/or improve event related concepts, as well as implementing detailed event plans and timelines;
  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Assist EVS Manager in estimating and allocating funds, managing budgets, and tracking expenses to ensure cost-effective event management;
  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Support in sourcing and hiring vendors, negotiating contracts, and overseeing their work to ensure quality and compliance;
  • On-site Coordination: Supervising event set-up, managing staff, coordinating activities, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise during the event;
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Collecting feedback, evaluating event success, analyzing data, and preparing reports to assess the event’s impact and help make improvements for future events;
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and developing contingency plans, including emergency response protocols, to ensure the safety and security of all staff and other stakeholders;
  • Prepare and execute deployment plans and assignments pre, during and post events;
  • Plan, manage, coordinate and supervise the activities of the Environmental Services events staff through pre-planned tasks;
  • Develop and maintain the department’s policy and procedure manual;
  • Collaborate as a member of the management team in a group environment through personal behavior, work contributions and sharing of expertise and knowledge;
  • Research, recommend and manage contract services in pest control, waste management, recycling, window cleaning, outside grounds maintenance, snow removal, etc.
