Description:

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Supervisor of the Emergency Department, Access Services, manages the daily operations of the department, ensuring a timely and efficient patient throughput process while providing excellent customer service. The Supervisor ensures that departmental policies and procedures are followed, supervises staff, creates schedules and ensures that the work done by the staff is accurate and meets regulatory and policy standards. The Supervisor provides leadership support to the team while also completing Patient Access functions on a daily basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Minimum of 5 years of Patient Access experience and 3 years of leadership experience preferred
  • Knowledge in all aspects of registration, Insurance Verification, Authorization requirements, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care.

Preferred:

  • College Degree Preferred

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Monday- Friday
  • Must be flexible and can work some weekends/holidays as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Must provide and contribute to a positive environment that leads to the overall success of revenue cycle and organizational goals, demonstrating good interpersonal skills and a positive demeanor in working with patients, employees and other organizational staff
  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of all registrations, which includes the following: correcting and tracking registration errors via daily reports; utilizing reports and staff scorecards to determine educational needs of the staff and addressing when applicable; accurately communicating staff expectations around department goals and KPIs and how the staff plays a pivotal role within the Revenue Cycle
  • Working closely with the Manager, ensuring training and education of all staff; overseeing training, onboarding and orientation of all new staff, while maintaining adequate staffing levels for the department. Must ensure all registration staff is competent and recertified yearly on mandatory education. Must also review and complete all staff schedules and manage call outs
  • Enforces compliance with all departmental policies and procedures in conjunction with the goals and mission statement of the organization. Informs staff of System updates while providing any/all pertinent information related to registration issues Achieves expected results and outcomes without comprising RWJBH core values, processes or procedures
  • Delegates and prioritizes work assignments in relation to the patient s needs and staff s competence. Ensures timely registrations of all patients and completes registrations within the department when necessary as well as performing other duties as assigned
