Description:

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the negotiation, analysis, coordination, communication, and administration of hospital contracts. Identifies product quality, process improvement and cost reduction opportunities through regular interaction with vendor personnel, hospital staff, and other resources. Promotes product and service standardization, financial responsibility, and best patient outcomes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; OR. Associate degree with a minimum five (5) years’ healthcare Supply Chain Management / contract management experience OR high school diploma with a minimum seven (7) years’ healthcare Supply Chain Management / contracting experience.
  2. Master’s Degree preferred.
  3. Clinical experience preferred.
  4. Certification: Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) or related certification preferred.

Responsibilities:

  1. Negotiates product, service and equipment proposals and agreements, strategic to the organization’s standardization, vendor diversity, and cost management goals. Presents findings to physicians and staff, coordinates evaluations and action plans.
  2. Partners with Akron Children’s contracted Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), pursues GPO contract compliance, collaboratively identifies cost and patient outcome improvement opportunities.
  3. Drafts and reviews contract language, statements of work, and RFP (request for proposal) documents. Works closely with department managers and the organization’s General Counsel to assure contract language promotes and protects the interest of the hospital and its patients.
  4. Provides contract, vendor, product, and service information in support of the organization’s Value Analysis program. Presents product opportunities, narrates the impact of proposed changes.
  5. Stays abreast of new technologies, professional trends, products and practices through hospital and supply chain publications, participation in professional forums and meetings, discussion with piers, meetings with vendors and dialog with hospital departments, physicians, and staff.
  6. Maintains productive vendor relationships with strategic business partners, supports business reviews with key vendors.
  7. Promotes capital equipment standardization, recognizes all aspects of a capital ownership, including equipment purchase, maintenance, associated consumables and disposal of retired assets.
  8. Performs operational review of assigned contracts, implements timely renewal and replacement of expiring contracts, confirms Infor set-up conforms with negotiated terms.
  9. Capable of securing and analyzing data from the organizations ERP system (Infor) and GPO websites.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned supporting the Supply Chain Management Team and ACH organization.
  11. Other duties as required.
