ABOUT YOU: SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled in final year of your BSc, BA or MSc degrees with marine commercial operations, supply chain, logistics or economics degree
  • Eligible to work in Hungary; work permit or student visa valid for at least 8 months.
  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • Intermediate skills competency in full Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Open minded approach, eager and capable of learning new skills
  • Analytical skills and critical thinking, comfortable speaking with external counterparties often sitting in other countries
  • Professional writing skills, good communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams alike, be a self-starter

Responsibilities:

WHAT ROLE YOU WILL PLAY IN OUR TEAM:

We are seeking motivated and energetic candidates to fill a 6-month paid internship within our Marine Claims division in Budapest Hungary. ExxonMobil’s Global Marine Claims division consists of a team of 70 professionals accountable for analyzing and negotiating 20,000 marine demurrage (delay) and oil loss claims annually associated with ExxonMobil’s global trading and sales and purchase activity transported on bulk liquid and gas tankers.
Candidates should be in the final year of university studies in disciplines associated with commercial marine shipping, supply chain or logistics.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Support the Marine Claims analysts with processing marine claims. Activities include acknowledgement of claims received from third parties, validation supporting documentation and entered claims into the system for accurate accounting and stewardship
  • Assist Marine Claims Analysts with claim calculations, analysis, negotiation, followup and settlement which could include interface with third party suppliers and customers
  • Opportunity to support and/or lead various process improvement and/or analytical projects
  • Develop negotiation and critical thinking skills, exposure to experts and mentors
  • Hone analytical skills and improve technology use skills
  • Increase knowledge of commercial shipping and marine tanker commercial operations, logistics and global trade flows, including contracts and legal aspects
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and development activity
