Florida Crystals is a leading domestic sugar producer and North America’s first fully integrated cane sugar company, guiding our sugar from farm to table. We are America’s first and only producer of certified organic sugar, grown and harvested in the United States. Our renewable energy facility is the largest of its kind in North America and provides clean energy that powers our sugar operations, which helps us reduce our use of fossil fuels. Florida Crystals also sustainably farms rice, sweet corn and other vegetables in rotation with our sugarcane. Our rice mill is the only rice mill in Florida.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Supply Chain Manager Direct Materials has responsibility for over $18MM in direct material inventory across twelve (+) packaging operations within North America. In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with internal customers, such as, Planning, Operations, Purchasing, NPD, Supplier Quality, and Packaging Engineering as well as external suppliers toward the successful delivery of materials and special projects to meet businesses requirements. The successful candidate must exhibit strategic agility and maximize value by reducing overall working capital costs while improving the quality of goods and servicing the manufacturing production lines. This role will be responsible for managing regionally assigned Materials Management Supervisors/Managers in accordance with the company’s established policies and procedures.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field from an accredited university
  • 7-10 years of experience working in Inbound Supply Chain or related field (i.e. Materials Management, Procurement, Logistics, Planning)
  • At least 5 years of experience utilizing an ERP system in a supply chain/fulfilment capacity
  • Knowledge of process improvement and future fulfillment strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in warehouse and inventory management
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects
  • Knowledge of current industry trends, technology within material requirements planning
  • Previous leadership/management experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced Degree/MBA is a plus
  • APICS or CPSM
  • Prior Materials Management or Inventory Management experience

  • Material Requirements Planning: Can explain the wide variety of MRP Parameters including MRP types, lot-size indicators, combinations of min/max/reorder points etc. Understands the importance of the MRP list – how to set it up, execute it, process the output and make adjustments so that it really becomes a support tool rather than simply a task. Can understand the INPUTS from various departments and tools (Production, Purchasing, Plant Maintenance, IBP) that impact material requirements plan. Can utilize S&OP and/or Demand Management (Independent requirements) to facilitate long and short-term planning.
  • Inventory Management: Has a firm understanding of the importance of setting correct inventory levels at the plant level and suppliers floor (VMI). Ability to monitor and report effectively with the use of KPI’s to determine trends, and trigger actions. Can transact issues, receipts, returns, transfers and adjustments in all of the various forms. Can conduct and manage annual audits.
  • Supply Chain Management: Demonstrate the ability to manage the network of interconnected businesses involved in the ultimate provision of product and service packages required by end customers. Understand that supply chain management spans all movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-process inventory and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares executive presentations for working capital management, major projects, annual budgets, and KPI’s
  • Manages a team of Materials Management Supervisors/Managers to drive optimal material requirements, ensure good manufacturing practices and make certain procurement KPI’s remain above target
  • Coordinates with Planning, Operations, Procurement, NPD, Supplier Quality, and Packaging Engineering, along with external supply base to develop and drive optimized inventory strategies across the network, while supporting plant packaging operations that can operate on a 24/7 basis or as needed
  • Ensures all materials, processes and initiatives comply with established department policies and procedures
  • Serve as the Materials Management lead for Sales & Operations Planning and delegates tasks appropriately to meet timelines
  • Manages network complexities, while determining priorities for the overall business
  • Develops and implements cost savings and process improvement projects to improve efficiencies for packaging operations
  • Interprets and presents monthly or annual reports to senior management including root cause and corrective actions when required
  • Manages regional and global supply chain improvement projects on behalf of Global Procurement Organization
  • Analyzes high level supply requirements to implement long term inventory strategies to mitigate risk, along with management of VMI, while driving compliance with the external supplier
  • Manages all aspects of safety related to warehouse contents and practices (housekeeping, layout improvement, material quarantine and operations)
  • Manages artwork/material transitions with inventory runout plans to minimize potential write offs
  • Manages to minimize obsolete materials while working with Supply Planning and Sales
  • Manage and understand when to implement policy standards at a plant level, regionally, or globally
  • Performs other duties as assigned
