Description:

ExoTerra is a world leader in solar electric propulsion systems and space exploration satellites. The company develops Hall Thrusters, propulsion modules, microsatellites and launch vehicle upper stages. We have been awarded multiple propulsion module and satellite contracts and are in need of an Supply Chain Manager to support development of power distribution, power processing units and power regulating systems for spacecraft and Hall Thrusters.
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for ensuring that ExoTerra’s supply chain process is agile, responsive, and adaptable to changing market conditions and business dynamics. This is a hands-on role that will create and steer our demand planning across the organization. This role acts as a strategic liaison between Project Managers, Manufacturing teams and Finance. This role will guide company spending, maximize the value of vendor partnerships, and mitigate potential third-party risks. The ideal candidate will bring a robust background in supply chain management, with a strong emphasis on demand forecasting within a manufacturing organization. Working closely with the COO and CFO, this role will be at the helm of a dynamic team, driving monthly volume consensus through collaboration with Manufacturing and Production Operations, Inventory, Program Managers, executive leaders and department heads. The initial responsibility of this role is to build an aggregated demand planning forecast, including KPIs, to guide effective purchasing and inventory management strategy that will drive procurement through the projects lifecycle.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Understanding of engineering documents, parts and materials
  • Understanding of different manufacturing processes and how items are produced to inform best vendor selection decisions
  • Experience and a deep understanding of what it takes to effectively plan, buy and manage inventory in a high growth model
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel financial modeling skills; ability to demonstrate forecasting and analysis capabilities
  • Strong analytical ability and problem-solving capability and skill
  • Experience with negotiating third party contractor agreements, including pricing, service requirements, material business terms and relevant KPIs for performance.
  • Possesses an ability to understand financial measurements and how to impact them
  • High level of commercial acumen and proven track record of effective qualitative and quantitative judgement and decision making
  • Proven to thrive in a fast-paced, growth manufacturing environment
  • Strong relationship building, communication, time management and prioritization skills
  • Versatile with the ability to adapt to change and successfully work with ambiguity
  • Ability to influence stakeholders with a continuous improvement mindset while driving transformation around supply chain management and demand planning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, business administration, supply chain management or a similar field
  • 5+ years of Demand Planning and/or Procurement Forecasting experience
  • Demonstrated work experience in a high volume fast paced office environment with a high degree of responsibility

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Program Managers, Manufacturing, and department heads to understand the procurement needs across the company, in particular materials for projects, secondary processes, subcontractors, professional services, and 3rd party software.
  • Build a forecast of purchasing needs by project by department and by supplier, with a clear focus on operational efficiency to drive both monthly and annual purchasing and inventory planning.
  • Responsible for BOM level forecasting and strategic purchasing planning to drive the materials purchasing plan, ensuring we meet production schedules and bottoms up financial forecasts.
  • Develop KPIs and drive Demand Planning performance processes alongside FP&A.
  • Provide weekly trending insights, identifying risks and opportunities, and contribute to monthly financial reporting.
  • Collect and analyze data to ensure the company is making the best decisions.
  • Serve as the objective voice of Supply Chain, ensuring alignment between demand forecasts and business objectives.
  • Work with supplier management team (buyers) to confirm suppliers and vendors meet the goals of the company, including certifications, accreditation, and insurance, that fit within budget parameters.
  • Ensure all contractors and subcontractors meet required standards (security, certification, etc.) for our customer needs.
  • Support supplier management team (buyers) in contract / purchase negotiations with vendors and suppliers.
  • Lead process and system transformations bringing best-in-class Demand Planning knowledge as well as a continuous improvement and change management mindset.
  • Work with team to locate and develop new vendor relationships, monitor and report vendor performance to quality team.
