Description:
The position
The Supply Chain Manager - Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations of the organization. This role involves planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient movement and storage of goods, services, and information, ensuring that products are delivered to customers on time while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
Main Responsibilities
- Supply Chain Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic supply chain plan in alignment with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and optimize inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing holding costs.
- Procurement: Manage relationships with procurement and suppliers, ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and products.
- Demand Forecasting: Collaborate with sales and demand planning teams to develop accurate demand forecasts and adjust supply chain operations accordingly.
- Distribution and Logistics: Coordinate the transportation, warehousing, and distribution of goods to ensure efficient and timely delivery to customers.
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and cost reduction within the supply chain.
- Quality Control: Establish and enforce quality standards to maintain the integrity of products and services throughout the supply chain.
- Risk Management: Mitigate supply chain risks by identifying potential disruptions and implementing contingency plans.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and develop a team of supply chain professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluation.
- Data Analysis: Use data and analytics tools to track key performance indicators, evaluate supply chain performance, and make data-driven decisions.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including trade laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, logistics, or a related field; a master’s degree may be preferred.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in supply chain management, with a focus on operations.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, logistics, procurement, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in using supply chain management software and data analysis tools, ideally SAP.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards.
- Certification in supply chain management (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional - CSCP) is a plus.
- Proficiency in German (B2 level), fluent in English (both written and spoken).
