Description:

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Rotating Weekends and Holidays required
  • Shift working: Night 10:30pm -7:00am

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must know how to use common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads to keep areas clean and well serviced.
  • Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
  • Work with constant concern for the safety of all persons (Patient, Visitor Etc.)
  • Interacts in a positive manner with coworkers in all departments to accomplish the goals and objectives of the hospital for effective patient care.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities:

  • Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas
  • Vacuum and spot clean mats and carpets, as assigned
  • Empty, clean and re-line waste baskets. Transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas.
  • Wash and disinfect bed/crib at discharge and prepare bed for new occupant.
  • Follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens
  • Clean and disinfect daily bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, walls (as far as can be reached) and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary
  • Notifies supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low. Report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good condition, is responsible for economical use of supplies
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate machines and equipment may include hard floor surface maintenance, e.g.: strip, refinish, burnishing and shampooing carpets
  • Delivers clean linen throughout the facility
  • Enhances professional growth and development by attending in-services, required meetings and other educational programs
