Boeing Global Services is currently seeking a Mid-Level Support Engineering Data Specialist to become part of the Supply Chain Engineering (SCE) Defense Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) team. The Defense DMSMS team is responsible for developing DMSMS plans, obsolescence monitoring, analysis, and provides solutions for product obsolescence for bombers and commercial derivative programs at the Oklahoma City site.
A comprehensive DMSMS program is integral to the sustainment of a fielded system. This team works with customers worldwide to continue the support of systems that protect the United States and our allies. The person that fills this position will work with Boeing engineers, customers, and suppliers to ensure that continues to happen in the future.

As a Support Engineering Data Specialist, you will monitor and report obsolescence for a fielded equipment systems or multiple sub systems. You will collect, research and analyze source data and validate source data based on predefined and developed assumptions. Estimates the impact of the proposal or changes to the current or future design, development, and sustainment plans for a system or sub-systems.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent experience
- 3+ years’ experience in aircraft maintenance operations
- 3+ years’ experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- 3+ years’ experience reading and understanding technical manuals (Tech Order, Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC’s), maintenance manuals, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Previous Obsolescence / DMS experience
- Experience with SMART, OCMS, or LOFT
- Experience with MyBoeingFleet, GOLD, REDARS, and Haystack
- Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE)
- Experience with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS)
- Experience with commercial derivative aircraft
- Strong organizational and communication skills
TYPICAL EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience, 9 years’ related work experience, etc.)
Responsibilities:
- Understand, maintain, and update comprehensive DMSMS processes and procedures
- Use a variety of DMSMS tools and common desktop software to gather, analyze, and report data
- Work closely with program management, engineers, and supplier management to accomplish tasks
- Develop and evaluate Supplier Statements of Work (SSOW’s)
- Participate in or lead in-person and virtual DMS Working Group meetings
- Confidently and professionally work with customers and suppliers
- Understand and work within the boundaries of budget and schedule demands
- Evaluate Requests for Proposal (RFP’s) and Statements of Work (SOW’s). Develop Basis of Estimates (BOE’s) in support of new and follow-on proposal efforts.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively to reach decisions that are mutually acceptable to multiple engineering and support teams.
- Limited travel is unlikely, but may be required depending on the job assignment.
- Resolves source data gaps and inconsistencies with originator.
- Identifies source data inaccuracies and takes corrective action.
- Validates source data assumptions.
- Conducts peer reviews of completed deliverable items for overall technical accuracy and customers format standards/specifications.
