Description:
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
You will be working within the Children, Adults and Health Department and as a support worker you’ll make a difference by helping to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families within our Children’s Centre on Cranleigh Court Road, Yate.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- You will be qualified at NVQ3 or equivalent in early year’s provision, or working towards and appropriate qualification related to the provision of services to children and young people.
- You have significant experience working in a similar area, with children or families requiring additional support.
- The knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practices; processes and procedures, support mechanisms and specialist equipment.
- You’ll have good communication, relationship building and report writing skills.
- The ability to carry out risk assessments.
- You must have a good level of general IT skills and the ability to use.
- You will be required to travel widely within the authority so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car or have access to appropriate means of travel.
Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
Responsibilities:
- You will carry out whole family assessments and support families to implement changes in their lives using a strength based approach and contribute to social care plans.
- You will spend time providing advice, support and guidance to families either through group work or one to one outreach sessions.
- Daily you’ll liaise and work with external contacts such as health agencies, social care and the voluntary sector ensuring that communication is effective so knowledge and best practice is shared.
- You will facilitate a range of groups to support families with children aged 5 and under, with colleagues or in partnership with other agencies.
- You’ll be required to maintain confidential reports and case notes, record care plans and risk assessments in accordance with professional and Council guidelines.
