We serve a population of approximately 308,000 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki. Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is one of the Bay of Plenty’s largest employers with over 4000 staff.

There are 12 x SMOs, 4X Trainee registrars and 11X non trainee Registrars, plus a Breast Fellow in the Department of Surgery at Tauranga and Whakatane Hospital.
All Registrar positions are accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as training positions.
The run period is 12 months, and the run is based at Tauranga Hospital, with a 13-week rotation for non-training registrars to Whakatane Hospital.
