Position: Surveyor
Location: North Vancouver

Responsibilities

  • Perform surveying for marine/heavy civil construction projects which includes:
  1. Field survey pile locations and batter orientations using GPS and a total station
  2. Field survey structure locations and elevations using GPS and a total station

  3. Draft pre-construction layout and as-built drawings using AutoCAD

  • Perform survey requirements for dredging projects which includes:
  1. Collect and process data using a Multibeam Echo Sounder and a Global Positioning System (GPS) for collection, reduction, and presentation of topographic and bathymetric data

  2. Draft pre- and post-dredging drawings using AutoCAD

  • Prepare field equipment, coordinate packing/shipping of field equipment/tools/ supplies and travel to/from work sites
  • Prepare reports and drawings
  • Work independently and professionally in field and office
  • Complete projects on time and within budget
  • Work successfully as an integral team member to achieve project goals
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety & Environment

Qualifications / Requirements

The candidate will have knowledge of conventional and hydrographic surveying techniques along with:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with survey principles and methodologies including Differential GPS and Real-Time Kinematic GPS
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in the construction industry
  • Experience with single-beam, seismic, side-scan, magnetometer, and underwater video survey systems is an asset
  • Knowledge of surveying software packages
  • Experience with computers, interfacing with electronic equipment, and familiarity with technical computer programs
  • Proficient with HYPACK and AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is considered an asset)
  • Mechanical background is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license is necessary with a clean driving record
  • Proficient small boat operator is an asset
