Strathcona Resources Ltd. We are actively seeking a Sustainability and Commercial Analyst to join our Business Development, Sustainability & ESG team in Calgary. This role is responsible for providing analytical and reporting services to support Strathcona’s sustainability and commercial activities and presents an opportunity for significant career growth. The successful candidate will be interacting frequently with several experienced professionals on the team and be providing support and recommendations to a variety of diverse projects. This role requires fostering effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and external counter parties to secure outcomes that advance Strathcona’s interests.
Responsibilities:
- Compiling, maintaining, and analyzing sustainability metrics across the organization, providing both required data disclosures and insights internally.
- Assist in preparation of correspondence, reporting packages and other filings relating to government grants.
- Support midstream related commercial activities through contract management, review, and structuring.
- Undertake competitor analysis.
Core Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or other relevant discipline).
- 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Passion for working in the energy business.
- Track record exhibiting humility, curiosity, and perseverance.
- Enthusiasm for learning and continuous improvement of workflows/processes.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of grant and funding application processes
- Familiarity with federal and provincial environmental policy, legislative processes, and ESG/sustainability reporting in the energy sector.
- Experience interpreting and managing commercial contracts.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools.
- Understanding of statistical analysis and building simple economic models.
