Sustainability and Environment Manager, Northern AB

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum technical diploma or University degree in Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or related discipline; Masters considered an asset.
  • You are a Qualified Environmental Professional and hold one of the following designations and are registered with a Alberta association: P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Ag, or R.P. Bio.

EXPERIENCE & SKILL SET:

  • Ten years of related experience
  • 5+ years of direct experience managing sustainability and environmental reporting requirements under federal and provincial environmental regulations associated with manufacturing and construction
  • 5+ years of direct experience as a Project Manager, leading environmental management of multiple projects, coordinating a team of internal experts and external consultants
  • Excellent project management, planning and communication skills
  • Experience with contaminated sites investigation and remediation with excellent knowledge of AEP, AER and CEPA environmental regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines including their application in a business setting
  • Experience delivering sustainability strategies, including energy management programs.
  • Experience managing a range of environmental disciplines (air quality, surface and groundwater quality, soils, vegetation, fish and fish habitat, contaminated sites, archaeology).
  • Ability to work together and communicate with stakeholders, Indigenous groups, Technical Advisory Group and Community Members
  • Experience in acquiring environmental permits, licenses and approvals from regulatory agencies
    Travel Requirements: Up to 25% of overnight travel depending on the job demands, frequent site visits around the Edmonton, Red Deer and Northern Alberta regions are expected
