QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Working towards CPA designation preferred
Experience:
- 3 years of experience performing financial analysis or working in an accounting role, using an enterprise software system
- Experience supporting financial administration in Higher Education, Utilities, Sustainability, or Facilities Management settings is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Critical thinking and discernment to assess and scope areas for process improvement with an ability to offer creative solutions.
- Exceptional organizational skills, including managing multiple competing priorities with an ability to adapt quickly to emerging/competing priorities that involve a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, peers and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements.
- Proven history of successful partnership on multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignments.
- Ability to work under pressure, balancing multiple projects, each having their own timelines and constraints.
- Working knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft applications preferred
- Ability to research for funding opportunities, drivers of strong benchmarking results, and other external agreement terms.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical users.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize amounts of detail/data.
- Practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and dashboards.
- Advanced computer skills including spreadsheet design, word processing and database management.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities:
The Sustainability & Utilities Analyst will facilitate financial and data processes related to Western’s use of energy and utilities, including performing analytical consumption review, account management and funding proposal development. The Sustainability & Utilities Analyst will develop and maintain relationships with all the utility vendors and manage the development of reports for internal and external stakeholders. The Sustainability & Utilities Analyst will compile relevant data and conduct timely and accurate data analysis and reporting related to sustainability and financial objectives. The Sustainability & Utilities Analyst will act as a first point of contact and resource in relation to FM’s utility accounts and assist in the resolution of various internal and external account management issues.
