QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• University Degree in Sciences/Engineering/Environmental Management or related field

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Sustainability and Environmental reporting, especially related to GHG reduction

Knowledge and Skills

• Working knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations

  • Experience working in environmental affairs and compliance
  • Experience working with organizational sustainability or ESG initiatives/reporting considered an asset
  • Experience dealing with external stakeholders
  • Experience leading projects and coordinating initiatives across internal stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with an ability to deliver on tactical initiatives
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office / G-Suite
  • Proven research and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and writing skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and able to balance priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization
  • French is an asset

Responsibilities:

Sustainability and Environmental Initiatives and Reporting
Completion of environmental and sustainability reports, to support both the market areas and Group Sustainable Development requirements such as the:
o Monthly Scope 1 emissions calculations for Eastern Canada
o Annual Lafarge Stakeholder report
o Annual Environment reports
o Biannual Climate Reporting
o Quarterly Sustainability Reporting
o Biannual Lafarge Canada Board Report

o Monthly Environment Incident KPI report

  • Collect and Analyze data to support the calculation of Sustainability Metrics, such as Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, water use, and biodiversity
  • Supports in the development of Sustainability and ESG opportunities
  • Engagement with internal stakeholders to track and report on sustainability initiatives, including coordination with market area managers and operations personnel to ensure reporting timelines and data integrity
  • Support the team on environmental initiatives as required
  • Support in the development of materials and events to develop a culture focused on sustainability and a broadened awareness of the environmental discipline
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting systems through optimizing data acquisition, modelling and analysis processes and tools.
  • Help design, build, and automate reports/dashboards as required
  • Develop governance procedures to ensure strong integrity of data
  • Other duties / special projects as required

CSR and Public Affairs
• Assist in the development of internal and external communications which include:
o Public Affairs newsletters
o Media Releases / sustainability stories

o Dispatch editorials, and case studies

  • Respond to corporate, regional and operational requests as required
  • Monitoring of emerging issues or trends in the sector

Business Administration

• Coordinate with the market area managers on the maintenance of records and activities to ensure compliance with internal Minimum Control Standards

  • Ensure department records and central files, including the electronic filing system, are accurate, current and maintained (G-drive, network drive)
