Due to an influx of work and general expansion, an opportunity has arisen for an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join a busy and well established sustainability team within a growing multi-disciplinary consultancy. You will work towards developing your career skills with a structured career path, whilst also developing knowledge of other design disciplines and principles.
The Role
The Role:
To provide dynamic thermal modelling (IES) on energy and sustainability development projects within the energy and sustainability team, whilst simultaneously manage and support delivery on a project basis. You will also assume role of a project manager as required, co-ordinating with internal teams, other project disciplines and the client.

Principle Responsibilities

  • A track record of using IES Dynamic Thermal Modelling Software is essential
  • Knowledge of using IES Dynamic Thermal Modelling Software to support Part L, Daylight, Thermal Comfort Studies
  • Taking lead roles and project management of the delivery of energy and sustainability services on projects
  • Competent in being able to simplify the model in order to generate efficiencies in delivery
  • The successful candidate should also ideally have knowledge of the following:
  • Planning strategy and documentation – energy strategies and sustainability statements
  • Building modelling (energy performance, daylight studies, etc.)
  • Low and zero carbon strategies
  • Assist in production Reports and Planning Applications including assessments on energy supply and demand.
  • To incorporate energy/water efficiency measures and Low Zero Carbon technology (combined cooling, heating and power, solar PV/Thermal, Wind, Biomass Heating/CHP, Ground Source Heat Pumps, Geothermal Heating and Cooling) into the project design
  • Be able to demonstrate awareness of BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) specifically around energy credit requirements
  • Maintain professional knowledge of energy and sustainability legislation
  • Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities where appropriate with existing and new clients
  • When acting as project manager, co-ordinate with other project disciplines and team members
  • Develop business relationships to secure additional work and increase development team revenue and deliver revenue targets for the development team

Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to HPF Energy Policy and strategy for energy and sustainability
  • Develop understanding of new and up and coming legislation and how it will impact business

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4-6 years of experience working within an energy design environment with a recognised engineering practise, whilst having detailed knowledge of the design procurement and installation process for major projects.
