THE POSITION

We are currently seeking an innovative and dynamic sustainability consultant or engineer to join our highly successful Brisbane Sustainability Team – part of a Global Sustainability Group. You will be the Queensland State Lead for the sustainability team and reporting to the Australian Sustainability Lead, you will take a support role on large projects and leading role on small to medium projects, assist with business development, and help more junior members of the global group to grow.
This role requires someone with a passion for sustainability and technical depth, who thrives on developing sustainability solutions and engaging with clients.

You will be expected to:

  • Act as an advocate for environmental and social sustainability on projects
  • Act as Lead Sustainability Consultant/Engineer on the sustainability component of projects, applying deep technical knowledge and skills on design and construction projects. This may require the nomination of project sustainability engineers/consultants and reviewers for projects where appropriate
  • Document sustainability initiatives and performance against rating schemes (e.g. Green Star, BREEAM, LEED, NABERS, WELL) through feasibility, design, tender, construction and defects liability phases
  • Provide (as appropriate to your own specialist skills) technical leadership, QA and verification for projects across the Global Sustainability Group
  • Manage NDY’s involvement in projects so that work is completed efficiently whilst meeting client needs
  • Identify and engage clients and key stakeholders, ensuring that expectations are known, disseminated, managed and fulfilled, within program and project constraints
  • Regularly participate and represent NDY in internal and external meetings to discuss client issues, proposals, new opportunities and marketing strategies
  • Participate in delivering research and development initiatives in your technical area(s) of expertise
  • Provide on-the-job training and share knowledge with graduates and new staff, identifying areas where training may assist individuals or the group. Act as a mentor to support junior staff
  • Enhance client relationships, improve market standing, and secure new work via relationship building, networking, client presentations and submissions, speaking opportunities within the industry and proactive early project involvement
  • Co-ordinate and plan commitments, resources, and balance workload across available projects to meet project deadlines and budgets efficiently and effectively. Monitor workload and advise line manager/project lead where additional skills are required, and when over/under utilization is likely to occur.
