As part of the Corporate Responsibility team, the Sustainability Manager will work with multiple business partners across our business to support the implementation and delivery of successful and impactful programmes across the Environment and Responsible Business pillars for Europe. The role will support the development and implementation of activities to support our sustainability targets and continued strategy implementation. An amazing strategic thinker, project leader and multi-tasker, someone who can keep the multi-pillared and channelled project balls spinning
The Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability function sits within the European Brand & Marketing function based in the European Head Office in Watford and is responsible for contributing to programmes across two fascias (TK Maxx & Homesense) and six countries.

KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in sustainability and/or data analysis roles.
  • A strong understanding of the wider sustainability agenda and best practice on driving improvement.
  • Experience of working in project management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – relationship building, team working, influencing skills and able to prioritise and work with multiple projects at once
  • Experience of engaging and influencing at a senior level within a business setting.
  • Fluent in English – proven excellent writing and presenting skills.
  • Self-Starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative
  • Occasional Travel may be required

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and impact measurement of activities and initiatives, including renewable energy, onsite energy generation, logistics carbon mapping, to support TJX Europe scope 1&2 Net Zero pathway, working closely with the internal stakeholders across TJX Europe ( including Buying, Buying Support, Logistics, GS&P, Store Operations)
  • Support the TJX Europe evaluation of scope 3 impacts through the analysis of current data and working with internal teams ( buying teams, GS&P ) to identify and develop further opportunities to enhance scope 3 data sets and carbon reduction plans including business travel, PD, GNFR
  • Manage the TJX Europe initiatives to support the Global approach to measuring and impacting our Scope 3 emissions within the off-price model.
  • Working with the Manager of to develop programmes to drive the circularity strategy development, including new circular business models and opportunities to engage with customers to drive down our scope 3 carbon emissions e.g care and repair, upcycle, recycle
  • Lead the development of the expansion of TJX Europe’s clothing takeback scheme in Region 2, developing strategic, cross functional relationships across ECSO, Legal and GS&P and external delivery partners to develop the implementation plan in line with EU circularity requirements
  • Responsible for supporting the continued development, delivery, and implementation of TJX Europe’s plastic reduction strategy. Lead the cross functional working group to identify priorities ensuring the implementation and monitoring of key projects including Plastic Packaging Tax.
  • Responsible for supporting the delivery of the key projects, programmes and partnerships within the Carrier Bag Investment Strategy with the partnership management of external partners and organisations and impact evaluation.
  • Working with the Manager of to develop the roadmap for the achieving the target of zero waste to landfill, working with ECSO, PC’s, workplace services, GS&P and leading the cross functional working group.
  • Support the development, coordination and be a conduit for sustainability recommendations for new TJX Europe buildings including new PCs and Offices. Representing CR on any relevant governance groups, building strategic relationships across the business, and building the business cases for change supported through best practice.
  • Lead regular benchmarking and horizon scanning to identify emerging sustainability regulation and industry developments, working with internal stakeholders and external consultants to evaluate business requirements and/or implications.
