Description
SAIC seeks a Configuration Management Specialist to support the Space Development Agency (SDA) and (USAF) in its goal of developing an interoperable system of system in a Distributed Battle Management Systems (DBMS) and Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) environment. The goals include achieving alignment with the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) vision of improved information sharing, layered security, common data and architecture standards, system resiliency, faster implementation, and more effective cross-domain capabilities, including the ability for any sensor to inform any shooter across all domains.
The position requires an individual with strong technical project management skills, experience in Agile Engineering, and strong Configuration Management (CM) and Software Integration and Implementation skills.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication, team skills and DoD Program Management experience. They will be expected to continually balance and adjust work priorities to meet short deadlines and will be expected to develop a plan of action in an Agile process for their work.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Develops and maintains software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed software and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products.
Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable. Designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development. Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use.
Will develop software configuration standards for program-wide use. Will train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: Manages subordinate management and/or experienced specialist employees who exercise significant latitude and independence.
SCOPE: Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinates. Senior management reviews objectives to determine success of operation.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: N/A PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect departments and subordinate sections and work units. Interprets company-wide policies and procedures. May involved in development of budgets, schedules and performance standards.
FREEDOM TO ACT: Assignments are objective oriented. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organization’s objectives and timelines.
IMPACT: Decisions have an extended impact on work processes and outcomes. Erroneous decisions result in critical delays and modifications to projects or operations; cause substantial expenditure of additional time, workforce, and funds; and jeopardize future business activity.
LIAISON: Interacts frequently with internal and external management and senior-level customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and/or contractual clarifications. Leads briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.
Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and twelve (12) years or more experience.

  • The ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Experience with Security-Focused Configuration Management of Information Systems
  • Experience as a CM and Data Management (DM) Requirements Engineer
  • Experience in leading the Configuration Control Board (CCB) processes
  • Experience in Engineering change Proposals (ECPs)

Target salary range: $175,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
