JOB SUMMARY:

The Switchboard Operator works in conjunction with the Senior Director Facilities & Support Services to provide 24 hour communication services and call coverage at the hospital switchboard.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with troubleshooting various technological issues to identify root cause and resolution
  • Prior Experience with Electronic Medical Records Platform Preferred
  • Ability to analyze operational issues and solve them creatively
  • Strong Orientation to Patient Care and Patient Safety
  • Medical Terminology Knowledge preferred
  • One to three years’ experience as a switchboard operator preferred.
  • One year of experience with phone triage required.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Advanced computer fluency required.

Responsibilities:

  • Receives and relays incoming and outgoing telephone calls for the facility.
  • Provides directory information, transfers calls.
  • Makes general and emergency announcements over the facility PA system.
  • Handles the facility paging system and the beeper system.
