Description:

Inserso is seeking to hire a System Engineer to support our Department of Justice (DOJ) customer in Washington, DC. This position provides Tier 3 support for the operations, maintenance, and administration of the Microsoft Windows Servers 2016/2019 for physical, virtual (VMWare vSphere & vCenter), and cloud (AWS & Azure) environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the Active Directory and Windows infrastructure to include monitoring, account creation, group policy, security, and other domain tasks.
  • Install, secure, and maintain Windows Server (2019/2022 systems and Active Directory environments.
  • Ensure security compliance for all Windows server-based systems such as Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Active Directory, GPO, Active Directory Federated Services, and password/identity management systems.
  • Build and maintain Active Directory infrastructure and the global backup and recovery of Active Directory.
  • Troubleshoot Microsoft physical and VMware virtual environments.
  • Administer web services in multiple Windows Server environments (Microsoft Windows Server 2012 / 2016 / 2019).
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, install system wide software, and allocate mass storage space.
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft 365, and VMware vSphere.
  • Provide Windows support to VMware, Azure, and AWS server instances.
  • Provide integration support for new applications/systems migrated into or created directly in the team’s managed environment.
  • Support applications to perform e-Discovery and email archiving.
  • Provide escalation and communication support to agency management and internal customers.
  • Provide incident and problem identification, diagnosis, dispatch, and resolution support.
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
  • Troubleshoot & escalate tickets to appropriate internal teams, or vendor, as required.
  • Provide After Action Reports and or lessons learned following major outages.
  • Evaluate performance and recommend changes to reduce the types of incidents and problems impacting the daily operations of the IT Infrastructure.
  • Ensure the change management procedures are followed across the enterprise.
  • Provide reports to management and other groups.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Communicate with end users via IM, phone call or email as necessary.
  • Support operations of EMC, VMware, Azure, and/or AWS infrastructure.
  • Experience deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting Windows 10/11 virtual and physical workstations.
  • Enterprise application packaging and deployment using standard endpoint management tools.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a DOJ OJP T2 Public Trust background check.
  • 5 years of experience in IT support or related field.
  • 2 years of experience providing Windows System Administration or similar support.
  • Ability to obtain one of the following Microsoft role-based certifications within 90 days of hire:
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • Experience in aspects of Active Directory (e.g., DNS, Group Policy, PKI, Trusts).
  • Experience with Windows Server, Systems Center, and Active Directory, Windows Server 2019/2022 technologies.
  • Experience administrating cloud environments like AWS or Microsoft Azure managing accounts, email, and virtual.
  • Familiar with Active Directory and Exchange PowerShell cmdlets.
  • Have knowledge of Virtualization in a Windows environment.
  • Have an understanding of the OSI Model.
  • Have ability to lead troubleshooting for issues both known and unknown across all manner of applications/products to include vendor support if required.
  • Have ability to provide technical recommendations to solve short- and long-term issues.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in all aspects of Active Directory (e.g., DNS, Group Policy, PKI, Trusts).
  • Have Microsoft MCSA or MCSE for Windows certification.
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert certification.
  • Have ability to use and develop PowerShell and Power-CLI PowerShell-based cmdlets for routine tasks.
  • Have basic understanding of IT Security Standards, including the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Have understanding of MS SQL 2012/2016/2019 fundamentals.
  • Experience using system monitoring tools, such as SCOM, SolarWinds or Splunk.
  • Experience with endpoint management tools such as MECM, Tivoli (Bigfix).
  • Experience with Office 365 administration.
  • Experience with WSUS.
  • Experience with Certificate Authorities including managing templates and issuing certificates using the Certificate Server.
  • Experience with PKI infrastructure and certificate-based access.
  • Experience using ITSM ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow.
  • Experience with Relativity Analytics
