ABOUT THE ROLE

The Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring that the technical solutions with RDA continue to operate to best practice and are kept up to date with relevant maintenance and fixes.
Working closely with the IT Security and Enterprise Architect, the Systems Administrator will support the business and its requirement to implement technical solutions for use within the corporate environment; as well as a growing need to support smaller bespoke solutions in the project arena.
The Systems Administrator will have a detailed understanding of the solutions that are in place within RDA as well as a strong understanding of what is happening within the business at a divisional and global level.

The general and generic duties of the Systems Administrator are:

  • Manage the maintenance, optimisation and support of network infrastructure, server infrastructure, storage, and data communications;
  • Regular server maintenance and updates;
  • Be the technical escalation point and owner for in house servers, software and related infrastructure;
  • Provide Level 1 through 3 operational and technical support to users as jobs are logged via Helpdesk;
  • Resolve incidents and problems associated with end user computer, equipment and software, and provide support, advice and assistance where required;
  • Perform daily and weekly backup tasks as required;
  • Coordinate efforts with third-party service and maintenance providers as necessary to keep equipment and software in good working order;
  • Perform proactive and reactive troubleshooting to effectively identify potential incidents or problems and attempt to eliminate them before they occur;
  • Asset management including licence management;
  • Manage the technical relationship with outsourced IaaS providers and support them in the delivery of solutions where required;
  • Be the lead implementer of technical solutions that will support the corporate infrastructure and any future project infrastructures;
  • Alignment of all technical decisions with enterprise architecture;
  • Recommend and Drive improvements in process and technologies; and
  • Project management of key IT projects with internal resources and external partners.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • A technical degree or equivalent experience within the IT field;
  • MTA or other Microsoft qualifications;
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills;
  • 5 years + experience working in complex IT environments;
  • Exposure and hands on experience working with multiple technologies; and
  • Hold or ability to hold an Australian Security Clearance
