WHO WE ARE SUPPORTING

The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO’s member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO’s communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO’s military commanders to plan and execute operations.
  • Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO’s mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
  • Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO’s information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.

Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO’s communication and information technology capabilities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • In depth knowledge of hosting platforms based on Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019
  • Windows server administration, remote administration and monitoring
  • Sound knowledge in the administration of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience in support Internet Information Services Web applications
  • Very good scripting experience with MS SQL and MS Powershell
  • Experience in the migration of system data from one
  • Experience with MS Azure and DevOps
  • Experience in upgrading hosting platforms and applications to newer versions
  • Excellent time management skills, prioritization ability and a demonstrated successful work under minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to cooperate smoothly in a multi-national environment

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Splunk Enterprise configuration and deployment
  • .NET framework
  • Object Oriented Programming
  • C# development, JavaScript, Angular
  • SOAP/Rest web services
  • Neo4j and/or Elastic Search

Responsibilities:

Support and maintain web applications operating on the NATO Secret network in support of NATO and its integrated commands

  • Join the existing second level support team to assist in troubleshooting, deployment, development and other second level support tasks for a distributed Web application developed mainly in C#/.NET Framework, with MS SQL Server backend and Javascript based frontend
  • Daily monitoring, patching, troubleshooting the application remotely, support the internal replication mechanism and configuration and propose improvement strategies
  • Participate in the transition stage for new application versions rollouts, including engineering tests, deployment strategies and application level testing
  • Networking protocols & topologies (TCP/IP configuration and troubleshooting)
  • Backup (configuration, administration, troubleshooting)
  • Disaster Recovery (HW/OS/Storage - planning, implementation, testing, documenting
  • Change/Configuration management
