We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to facilitate the ongoing availability, performance and uplift of AV’s critical on premise and cloud databases, including timely administration and proactive maintenance. This full-time, fixed term position (ending November 2025) is based at either Blackburn North or Ballarat with WFH/Hybrid options.
About the role

Reporting to Systems Database Administration Team Leader, responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:

  • Provide timely support for AV’s critical SQL Server environment supporting critical enterprise business applications
  • Manage the SQL Server patch and release program including identification of functional and business impacts
  • Resolve issues with inter-system interfaces and data flows to ensure operational performance levels are maintained and optimised
  • Proactively manage database and application security and integrity vulnerabilities using a risk assessment methodology
  • Recommend and implement suitable tools to improve management and monitoring of databases and applications
  • Develop and maintain effective plans, procedures, and policies for database monitoring, management, and upgrades to optimise database usage and performance

About you

The successful candidate will have Completion of a degree or relevant industry certification with proven subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training & relevant experience in an IT or business related discipline. In addition you will possess the following:

  • ITIL qualification at foundation level or above
  • Solid experience in supporting SQL Server databases both on premise and cloud supporting Enterprise Business Applications
  • Demonstrated experience in complex and critical multi node SQL Server architectures, management, support, tuning and recovery of large scale databases
  • High level of experience in researching, applying, and testing database patches and version upgrades considering application and business impacts
  • Technical knowledge and ability to architect SQL Server environments supporting contemporary application architectures including cloud
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with excellent time management and prioritisation abilities
