POSITION SUMMARY

The Systems Engineer provides effective and timely operational and technical support to end-users concerning system applications, hardware and software. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting and actively resolving incidents and problems, and escalating where necessary. You will ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working experience and strong technical knowledge in a multi-site networking environments both on premise and cloud services
  • Working experience with networks, windows server environments, virtual server environments
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with strong emphasis on following procedures, sharing best practices and documentation creation and upkeep
  • Industry intermediate level certifications such as Microsoft VMware and/or other core infrastructure solutions

Responsibilities:

  • Primary technical contact for maintaining and administration of Citrix environment.
  • Leads in planning and implementing changes to Citrix, Windows infrastructure
  • Provides second and third level support for troubleshooting of user access, system availability, and performance issues with core infrastructure systems including Citrix, Windows Server, Office applications, Backup
  • Proactively analyzing and identifying trends within the calls / issues logged across the customer base.
  • Collaborate with project leads to determine how requirements will be approached and managed for a particular project.
  • Assist in designing and implementing new server, storage and core systems solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current infrastructure
  • Installing, configuring and supporting infrastructure equipment including physical and virtual servers, storage, backup and recovery and core software solutions
  • Procuring infrastructure equipment and managing subconractors involved with installation
  • Configuring physical and virtual systems maximize efficiency and security
  • Maximizing system performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Arranging scheduled upgrades
  • Investigating faults in the systems, working with team, plan and / or implement to resolve faults
  • Updating systems equipment to the latest firmware / OS / Driver releases, keeping systems up to date with supportable and stable releases.
  • Reporting system status, stability and trends to key stakeholders
  • Other duties and tasks, as well as involvement with other IT projects as required and assigned
