The Boeing Company is looking for a Mid-level or Lead Systems Engineer with systems engineering experience to support Government Training Engineering (GTE) and SEIT (Systems Engineering Integration & Test). This role will primarily support system level requirements, architecture, and design to advance our USAF Fighter Trainers (including F-15 and F-22).
In this role, the team is looking for a naturally self-motivated person with a clear focus on delivering results. We need someone with a demonstrated capability to steer actions with clarity and assume responsibility for those actions. This person will be asked to tackle challenges and find practical solutions. Experience on a USAF fighter trainer platform is preferred, but any military aircraft trainer experience is valuable.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 5+ years’ experience with all aspects of the SEIT product development lifecycle
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE):
- 10+ years’ of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1+ years’ experience with EVM/CAM
- Experience working with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and Department of Defense (DOD) contracts
- 3+ years’ experience with standard systems engineering database tools such as DESE, DOORS, and OSEE
- 1+ years’ experience in the field of simulation, particularly aircrew (flight) simulators and/or trainers
TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Mid-level (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and managing requirements using standard Systems Engineering database tools such as DESE, DOORS, and OSEE, following systems engineering processes and best practices
- Evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements
- Assist in the development of the system architecture
- Document design elements (including artifacts such as use cases and activity diagrams)
- Ensure traceability between requirements and design elements
- Coordinate efforts and interfaces between multiple engineering disciplines
- Understand, support, and apply agile principles, practices, and processes
- Listen and support teams in problem identification, root cause analysis, and decision making
- Participate in peer reviews of requirements, architecture and designs
- Identify and recommend process improvement opportunities
- Support the development of proposals for future efforts
