Job Description:
Torch Technologies is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer (SE) with experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to create, expand, and update system models in support of customers at the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). MDA customers apply MBSE to develop Missile Defense System (MDS) Element system models, Element Modeling and Simulation (M&S), and large-scale enterprise-level System-ofSystems (SoS) of the MDS. Because the MDS is a large, complex, system-of-systems composed of geographically dispersed Elements, MDA relies on Element system models and Element M&S to perform engineering studies at the Element level and Digital Case Studies.

The MBSE SE will be an active participant on a cross-functional, multi-disciplined team supporting the MDA M&S Directorate’s (MDA/DES) mission to provide MBSE and M&S resources to enable MDA to develop and deploy a layered Missile Defense System to defend our homeland, our deployed forces, and our allies and friends from missile attacks. The successful candidate will enjoy working with a team of highly skilled professionals to solve complex technical problems in a fast-paced environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of related experience in MBSE, Software, and Systems Engineering on complex systems.
  • Working knowledge of SysML and MBSE tools such as IBM Rational Publishing Engine, Rhapsody, DOORS, DOORS Next Generation, Magic Draw/Cameo, Enterprise Architect, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of architecture, requirements engineering, verification, test, and system integration to accommodate End to End Systems Engineering
  • Understanding of system interface requirements and requirements management through SysML models
  • Demonstrated ability to master complex technical subjects in a short time.
  • Experience developing and presenting briefings to Government customers Goal-oriented with excellent people skills, ability to work well in a team environment, strong work ethic and self-starting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders and non-MBSE trained people, both in written and verbal forms
  • Ability to provide significant contribution in the areas of creative thinking, problem solving, analytical thinking.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance Required.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong Systems Engineering background, particularly experience in integrating Digital Models & Simulations
  • Knowledge of and experience with digital threads for design, evaluation, and life cycle management
  • Technical understanding of the MDA Missile Defense System
  • General understanding of Missile Defense Agency processes and policies

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain SysML/UML models to include major systems and subsystems, software, digital architecture, and requirements and specifications.
  • Integrate models into system functional models.
  • Support system development as an architect to include requirements management, configuration management, data management, risk management, etc.
  • Develop and maintain system of interest functional and logical models.
  • Develop user guides, training, demonstrations, and other resources to promote expansion of model-based systems engineering within MDA
  • Participate in system requirements reviews and in creating and/or updating requirement specifications and qualification models.
  • Serve as SysML/UML modeling SME.
