We are currently recruiting for a Systems Engineering Apprentice to join our Gas Services team based in our office in Manchester.

Part of being an apprentice at Siemens Energy means you get to work on real life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey. This will be a 4-year apprenticeship where you will complete the Engineering Manufacturing Technician Standard – Level 4.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Typical work activities that you will undertake during your apprenticeship:
- Installation, testing and commissioning of low voltage electrical and automation systems.
- Information Technology [computer] / Operations Technology [plc] and other control system hardware installation.
- Shadowing Distributed Control System [DCS] hardware engineering design.
- Installation and maintenance of ‘Zolo’ laser-based process optimisation system.
- Analytical and process measurement instrumentation: installation, service, calibration, and maintenance
- Logistics and stock control for the hardware used
- Planning and preparation for installation, commissioning, and servicing activities
- Identification / specification of consumables and tools required for work activities.
- Laboratory / test equipment management
- PAT testing
At the end of the apprenticeship, we would expect you to have gained the following competencies at a basic level:
- Familiarity with hardware system components for Power Station Distributed Control Systems [DCS].
- Familiarity with control system cabinet design with some knowledge of industry standards.
- Use of control system hardware design software tools.
- Problem-solving abilities: ability to work through simple problems when analysing specifications, read product manuals and develop solutions.
- Contribute to designing and testing hardware systems: the ability to identify potential issues and develop solutions to mitigate risks during installation and commissioning of systems.
- Understand test procedures and participate in factory acceptance and site acceptance tests for DCS projects.
- Be part of a team to supervise installation technicians on sites for designed systems.
- Conduct commissioning activities on sites for designed system.
- Develop communication and collaboration skills; be able to work well in a diverse team environment and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- You should have a GCSE in English Language and Mathematics grade A-C or level 9-4. In addition, you should have achieved or be on track to achieve a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering or A-Levels grade A- C in Maths and a Science.
