We are looking for a Tack Coat Truck Operator at our Walker Construction – Niagara location.

SKILLS

This position requires a demonstrated degree of initiative and judgment to organize and prioritize daily tasks.

  • Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to details and ensure work is done correctly and thoroughly.
  • Have a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
  • Possess a positive “can do” attitude.
  • Able to work with limited supervision and to take discretionary action as required.

  • Ability to use computer technology for electronic log completion and onboard touch screen controls.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • DZ driver’s license with the ability to successfully operate all types of manual transmissions.
  • Experience within the road construction industry is an asset.
  • Completion of Transportation of Dangerous Goods training within two months of hire
  • Availability for all shifts that include days, nights, and out of town work on short notice.

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate the tack coat truck in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Perform Daily Trip Inspection in accordance with Schedule 1 and report deficiencies.
  • Load and unload truck with tack coat.
  • Lighting and monitoring onboard propane or diesel burner systems.
  • Route planning to maximize efficiency.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures including traffic control plans.
  • Keep accurate records of time and material used.
  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program and encourage all employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Clean interior and exterior of truck as required.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Be a representative of Walker Industries to customers as a frontline worker.
